Gunnera Manicata
An extremely large and impressive plant with a real presence in the garden. Huge attractive leaves can grow up to 1.8m (6ft) across. It prefers a moist location and is ideal for pond-side plantings. A hardy rhizatomous perennial. A native of south Brazil and Columbia it was named for the Norwegian bishop and botanist Johan Ernst Gunnerus. Commonly thought of as Giant Rhubarb which it isnt, it is also called Dinosaur food.
